Nimlok Grand Rapids Makes a Buy
-- Tradeshow Week, 5/4/2009
Troy, Mich.-based Nimlok Grand Rapids, a provider of custom, modular tradeshow exhibits, has bucked the trend of holding onto its money and scooped up Exhibits Now, another local company. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The new company will operate under the name Nimlok Metro, as a subsidiary of Nimlok Grand Rapids.
“Nimlok is a name that is known throughout the country for value and quality,” said Derrick Johnson, Nimlok Grand Rapids vice president and general manager. “We are thrilled to bring those traits to the Detroit region as Nimlok Metro.”
According to Johnson, Exhibits Now's 15 years of experience, combined with Nimlok Grand Rapids' seven years, will be “crucial to the success of Nimlok Metro.”
Exhibits Now staff members will remain with Nimlok Metro, including former Exhibits Now owner Sueellen Parkes.
“While many might think this is a bad time to expand a business, we are confident the economy will rebound,” Johnson said. “When it does, Nimlok Grand Rapids and Nimlok Metro will be well-positioned to meet that growth head-on.”
The new company is expected to generate an additional $1 million in revenue and, to meet those expectations, Nimlok Metro will add three creative consultants within the calendar year, according to company officials.
Nimlok Grand Rapids is an independently owned and operated authorized distributor for the Niles, Ill.-based Nimlok company, which has more than 200 authorized distributors in 56 countries.
