• Lisa Kidder was named director of sales for the Austin (Texas) Convention Center.
• Messe Muenchen Intl. named Jennifer N. Liehn director of the U.S. Office – Munich Intl. Trade Fairs.
• Laurence P. Mulcrone retired as chief of staff of the Metropolitan Pier & Exposition Authority, owner and operator of McCormick Place and Navy Pier in Chicago.
• U.K. national tourism agency VisitBritain promoted Joss Croft to regional director for Europe. He previously was acting marketing director and head of business visits and events.
• The Natl. Assn. of Home Builders appointed Michael Currier head of exposition sales, where he will supervise exhibit and sponsorship sales for NAHB's annual Intl. Builders' Show/nextBuild. Currier previously managed housing industry accounts for Hanley Wood Exhibitions.
• Greg Hartlein joined Coffee Fest as CEO. He will oversee its three annual tradeshows and focus on increasing Coffee Fest's stature in the specialty coffee industry. Hartlein previously was senior business manager at Microsoft.
• Dominik Leonhardt was appointed head of Kuoni Events Switzerland and the United Kingdom by Kuoni Destination Management in Zurich, Switzerland.
• Bernie Massett, director of national I&D services for MC², was elected president of the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor Assn. for 2009-2010.
• Michael W. McCormick was named executive director and COO of the Natl. Business Travel Assn. McCormick most recently was managing partner of Hudson Crossing, a travel industry advisory business.
• Congrex appointed Alain Pittet regional managing director of Congrex Switzerland and Germany, responsible for Congrex operations in Basel, Switzerland; Berlin; and Weil am Rhein, Germany. Pittet previously was director of the Business Unit Trade Fairs and Exhibitions of Messe Schweiz in Switzerland.
• Ryan Strowger was promoted to director of business development at the Consumer Electronics Assn. In December, he also will join the Intl. Assn. of Exhibitions and Events' board of directors.
• Alex Tietgen, operations manager for the British Intl. Motor Show, joined the Adelaide (Australia) Convention Centre as exhibition manager. Richard Builder was named the facility's technical services manager.
• Messe Stuttgart in Germany promoted Guido von Vacano from deputy director to director of the lifestyle and leisure division, with responsibility for all Messe Stuttgart consumer shows. He succeeded Joachim Schubart, who died in March. Eike Scholl was named head of the international business development department, replacing Silvia Blumenschein, who left the company. Scholl previously was head of the tradeshow division of Business Media China, whose head office is in Stuttgart.
