Two German Messes Collocate Indian Shows

Exhibition cancellations and postponements have become a familiar fact of life in the news from the global tradeshow industry. As well, shows are being renamed, refocused and collocated all the time. But there’s still a smattering of show launches in the latest exhibition news from the Ukraine, England, Germany, Morocco, India, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, China, Hong Kong and Spain.

• Metal-Forum’s four collocated shows scheduled Oct. 27-29 at the Kiev Expo Plaza Exhibition Centre in Kiev, Ukraine, have been postponed. Although dates have not been announced yet, Metal-Forum Ukraine for metallurgy and metal; the Exhibition of Finished Metal Products; Art Forging and Art Foundry; and the Innovations and Technologies – Specialised Exposition of the Natl. Science Academy of Ukraine are planned again next October, according to show officials.

• Ocean Media Group, owner of the annual Event Show for event producers, renamed it the Event Production Show and moved it from its traditional late January dates to Feb. 2-3 at Olympia in London. Originally, the Event Show was scheduled Jan. 20-21.

• The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Autumn/Winter will be held a week earlier than originally planned, Jan. 20-23 instead of Jan. 28-31. Officials at show organizer IMG Fashion Europe said the plan is for the show to coincide with the Jan. 20-22 dates of Bread & Butter and Premium.

• Feria de Madrid (IFEMA)’s Jan. 20-24 Intl. Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) and the World Tourism Organisation will host the first edition of Investour Jan. 21 as part of FITUR, to be held at Feria de Madrid in Madrid, Spain. Investour, which will present Africa’s tourism potential to Spanish entrepreneurs, aims to stimulate Spanish tourism investment in Africa. Togo, Morocco, Tunisia and Cameroun already have confirmed their participation.

• U.K.-based trade association BACTA and InterGame will collaborate on a single tradeshow next year. InterGame launched the IGX show for the coin machine industry in London in January. It now will lend its support to BACTA’s new European Amusement and Gaming Expo, to be held Jan. 26-28 at ExCeL London – the Intl. Exhibition and Conference Centre in London.

• Deutsche Messe will launch the MobiliTec tradeshow for hybrid and electric powertrain technologies, mobile energy storage and mobility solutions as part of Hannover Fair April 19-23 in Hannover, Germany.

• Organizer Fairtrade officials announced that Telecomp Maroc + Solutions IT, scheduled for April in Casablanca, Morocco, has been canceled.

• ITnT, a Reed Exhibitions information technology and telecommunications tradeshow previously held in Vienna, Austria, will be replaced by a redesigned IT and telecommunications event, Cross Con. Reed Messen officials said ITnT no longer met exhibitors’ expectations and that Cross Con, to debut April 27-29 at Messe Wien in Vienna, will include a more extensive conference component.

• UCIMA, the Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Assn. and Rimini Fiera jointly will launch a triennial tradeshow for packaging. The first show will take place in late spring in Rimini, Italy. Its name, format and dates will be announced later this month.

• The first Automation Beijing will take place Sept. 1-3 at the China Natl. Convention Center in Beijing. The launch by the NuernbergMesse Group follows its launch of Automation Shanghai in June. The new show will focus on the automation industry in Beijing and Northeast China.

Gastronomia will debut in November 2010 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The new show focusing on the Swiss hospitality industry will be organized jointly by MCH Swiss Exhibition (Basel), which already is responsible for Igeho, the Swiss exhibition for the hospitality trade, and Beaulieu Exploitation of Lausanne.

• The Natl. Business Aviation Assn. announced that its Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition will be held Jan. 18-19, 2011, at the Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre at Hong Kong Intl. Airport. This year's edition, scheduled for February, was canceled.

Messes Collaborate on Packaging Shows

• Messe Duesseldorf and Messe Muenchen will collocate their Intl. PackTech India and drink technology India tradeshows Nov. 18-20 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai, India, for the Indian packaging, beverage and liquid food industries. Messe Duesseldorf and its subsidiary Messe Duesseldorf India typically stage the Intl. PackTech India tradeshow and conference for the packaging and packaging industry at the Bombay Exhibition Centre. Messe Muenchen organizes the drink technology India tradeshow for beverage and liquid food technology. It was held last year at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai.
