CIC Rolls Out Global Exam Day
-- Tradeshow Week, 11/2/2009
The Convention Industry Council announced it will hold the inaugural Certified Meeting Professional Global Exam Day Feb. 20 in five sites outside of North America: Cancun, Mexico, alongside Meeting Professional Intl.'s MeetDifferent; South Korea; Singapore; South Africa; and Italy.
The exam will be part of the CIC's ongoing effort to expand the CMP designation globally, according to Karen Kotowski, CIC's COO.
“The demand for the CMP designation from the global meetings community has been overwhelming, and it is our goal to provide as many opportunities as possible to meet this demand,” she said. “We know this global momentum will continue to grow to many more exam locations worldwide.”
Eduardo Chaillo, regional director of the Mexico Tourism Board and CMP Intl. Committee chairman, said he feels it's an exciting time for the CMP program, as international awareness of it expands.
“There is unlimited potential for growth of the CMP designation internationally,” he added. “The CMP Global Exam Day shows the strong commitment by CIC to bring this critical education to the global market and continue to develop our profession.”
The CMP program has been set up to recognize individuals who have demonstrated key understanding and excellence in the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry.
