• Meeting Professionals Intl. hired Theresa Davis as manager of strategic communications. Davis, who will direct MPI’s communications, public relations and social media strategy, previously was a consultant for a number of organizations through her Vibrant Public Relations agency.
• Jack Ferguson (left), currently executive vice president of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, will take over as president and CEO from Tom Muldoon, who currently holds the position and will leave Jan. 1, 2011. The search for Ferguson’s replacement will begin in March, and CVB officials said they want it completed by July 1.
• The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau named Marti Tejada convention sales manager for the Mid-Atlantic States.
• Char Beltran resigned as president and CEO of the Lake Havasu City (Ariz.) Convention & Visitors Bureau. Beltran was hired in November 2008. The CVB board is considering hiring an interim leader from within the community while searching for her replacement.
• The Assn. of Corporate Travel Executives named Chris Crowley, senior vice president sales for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific at BCD Travel, president-elect. Crowley will become president following the end of Richard Crum’s term next May. In addition, Megan Costello, currently ACTE deputy executive director, will become interim executive director Dec. 1, succeeding Susan Gurley, who is leaving ACTE to return to government service. Gurley has agreed to remain with ACTE in an advisory capacity through 2011.
• Mike Clark was promoted to vice president of operations for ConvExx, an independent show management company headquartered in Las Vegas.
• The Corpus Christi (Texas) Convention & Visitors Bureau hired Vanessa Kager as director of sales for the state of Texas. Kager will lead the CVB’s newly opened satellite office in Austin, Texas. She previously was senior sales manager for the Marriott Austin Downtown/Convention Center.
• Cristyne Nicholas, CEO and co-founder of Nicholas & Lence Communications, was named chairwoman of the Broadway Assn. Nicholas will continue her role with Nicholas & Lence, while working with the Broadway Assn. She previously was president and CEO of NYC & Company.
• Lenny Servedio was promoted to CFO of Metropolitan Exposition Services. He had been general manager since 2005.
• Patrick Skaggs has been named the assistant general manager of the Georgia World Congress Center, effective Dec. 1. As assistant general manager, Skaggs will be responsible for public safety, maintenance and repair, housekeeping and setup operations, show utility services and parking operations at the 3.9 million square foot convention center.
