-- Tradeshow Week, 11/10/2009 1:10:00 PM
For the first time since July 2008, convention attendance was up in Las Vegas. According to the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority's Executive Summary for September, meetings in Las Vegas attracted 401,319 attendees, 12.2 percent more than the 357,525 attendees during the same time period last year. LVCVA officials said part of the uptick came from two shows –
MAGIC Marketplace and
Las Vegas Market – that both were held in September. The number of meetings and conventions held in the same month, however, was down to 1,699 from 1,794, a 5.3-percent decrease, compared with the same time period last year.
