International Report: Reed Expo to Launch in Western China

The New Year brings a now-familiar mix of show launches, date changes and postponements from the worldwide tradeshow industry, with news coming from France, India, Spain, United Arab Emirates, China, Brazil and Singapore.

• The IWWA/IWA Utility Leaders Forum will premier at Aquatech India Feb. 3-5. The forum will give water utility CEOs the opportunity to share the latest trends involving water, energy and climate. Organized by the Indian Water Works Assn. and the Intl. Water Assn. in cooperation with Amsterdam RAI, the forum and exhibition will take place Feb. 4 at the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Centre in New Delhi.

• Deutsche Messe will launch CeBIT Sounds!, an interdisciplinary music exhibition, at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany, March 2-6. The new show will offer an international platform for both the music and information technology sectors.

• The launch of the Tunisia Intl. Health Expo will take place March 4-7 at El Kram Exhibition Hall in Tunis, Tunisia. The show will be organized by Tunis Intl. Fairs under the aegis of the Tunisian Ministry of Public Health and in collaboration with the Natl. Health Federation and the Health Professionals Union.

Franchise Expo Paris, March 14-17 at the Exhibition Center at Porte de Versailles in Paris, will offer American and Canadian pavilions for the first time. Franchise Expo Paris will feature French and international franchise brands from 75 business sectors, including several that are particularly fast-growing: fashion, beauty and health, home decoration, catering and food and services to individuals and businesses.

• IFEMA postponed the Salon Nautico de Madrid boat show for a year. Originally scheduled to take place March 17-21, the show now will be staged March 9-13, 2011, at Spain’s Feria de Madrid. IFEMA officials said conditions in the current leisure marine market prompted the postponement.

• Messe Frankfurt Hong Kong’s Intertextile Guangzhou Hometextile China will take place March 18-21 in new exhibit halls at the China Import & Export Fair Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou. With the move up one level to exhibit space parallel with the convention center’s sky bridge, Intertextile Guangzhou Hometextile China will be better connected to the seven other home-related tradeshows taking place as part of the China Intl. Furniture Fair.

• TechWeb, a division of United Business Media, will launch an information security event in the United Arab Emirates. Black Hat Abu Dhabi will take place May 30-June 2 at a venue still to be determined. The event was developed through a partnership between the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority, aeCERT and the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research.

• Reed Exhibitions Group (China) will launch Nepcon West China, for China’s surface-mount technology and electronics manufacturing industry, June 22-24, in Chengdu, China. As part of Reed Exhibitions’ expansion strategy into Central and Western China, Nepcon West China will be held at Century Town’s new Intl. Conference & Exhibition Center. Under a recently signed agreement between Reed and the Chengdu municipal government, Nepcon West China will be staged permanently in Chengdu, the capital of Szechwan province. The launch will be Reed Exhibitions’ first show in Western China.

• Leipziger Messe Intl.’s Games Convention Asia for interactive entertainment, scheduled Sept. 8-12 in Singapore’s Suntec Intl. Convention & Exhibition Centre, will be extended by one day to five, with three days dedicated to the conference for the first time. Dice Summit Asia will be held Sept. 8, one day before the conference.

• An innovation and trends area will make its debut Nov. 5-9 at the next Hostelco hotel and catering equipment show at organizer Fira de Barcelona’s Fira Montjuic Exhibition Centre in Barcelona, Spain. It will feature an exhibition of catering equipment and management products and solutions.

• Global Sources will hold its first Singapore China Sourcing Fair events Nov. 22-24 at the Suntec Singapore Intl. Convention & Exhibition Centre in cooperation with Fujian Huiyuan Intl. Exhibition of Fujian, China. The shows are intended to facilitate trade between China and the Assn. of Southeast Asian Nations countries and are expected to benefit from a new regional free-trade agreement that goes into effect this month. The events will feature collocated specialty shows for exhibitors of gifts and premiums, home products, garments and textiles, hardware and building materials, machinery and industrial supplies and food and beverages.

Reed Cancels PSI Paris Tradeshow

Reed Expositions France canceled the PSI Paris tradeshow for the promotional products industry. PSI Paris, scheduled Feb. 2-4 at Paris Porte de Versailles, will instead take place Feb. 1-3, 2011. Previously, PSI Paris had been held in September. The canceled show was to take place in February for the first time.

Helitech Franchise Expands to Brazil

Reed Exhibitions’ Aerospace and Aviation Group will expand its Helitech shows to Brazil with the launch of Helitech Brasil May 25-27 at the Anhembi Parque Exhibition Centre in Sao Paulo. The show, for the Latin American helicopter community, will focus on rotary wing technologies, applications and equipment. Helitech shows are also held in Duxford, United Kingdom (above), and Lisbon, Portugal.
