eMERGE is gaining speed

IAEE E2 eMERGE Tech Conference

If you haven't had the chance yet, make sure and visit the IAEE eMERGE blog.  They have a great cast of bloggers and topics.  With the IAEE Expo Expo conference just around the corner, a lot of meeting professionals are visiting the site.  I haven't yet seen a post on the best sushi in Vegas, but you never know what could come up when you get David Lutz of Velvet Chainsaw and Shawn Pierce of Hanley Wood collaborating.

I recently enjoyed a long discussion with Sam Smith of Shockfish.   They have relaunched the Spotme product and are trying to understand the North America market for this exciting technology.  Having just won the EIBTM WorldWide Technology Watch award, they are prepared to roll out their product into U.S. tradeshows and conferences.  I find it interesting to discuss launch strategies with overseas suppliers as they often face very different challenges.  One of the greatest barriers is just establishing basic relationships, as I have noticed that many show managers have become very wary of new software vendors.  This caution is usually warranted given the many horror stories of broken promises impacting the meetings industry when the internet bubble went away.
