Technology Power Pack Candidates?
June 10, 2008

After reading the TSW Top 100 Power Pack, I realized that among the four technology suppliers that made the roll, two of the people are resigning or retiring from their positions.  Is this limited participation of technology suppliers a statement about a) the lack of great tech supplier leadership, b) the lack of respect given to technology providers in our industry, c) the demanding nature of piloting a software organization in this industry, or d) all of the above?

I quickly identified my own list of tech leaders that I felt were left out of the spotlight.  I will hold off providing my thoughts, but decided instead that I would welcome suggestions.  Here is your chance – sound off and let me know who deserves credit for the tools they have produced for our industry.

One other rule, if you send me the list via email rather than posting a comment as so many of you do, I may ask permission to post it into the blog.  Kind of defeats the purpose if we don’t share our comments for all to see, doesn’t it?

What are your thoughts about Cvent and the new Cvent supplier network on Cvent.com that offers event management and venue site selection for convention centers, conference centers, and hotels across the country?

I must admit, that try as I may, it is hard for me to stay abreast of all the latest releases of innovation. I rely greatly on our industry suppliers to contact me and schedule demonstrations. I will also note that my calendar is filled with calls over the next 3 weeks just to see some of the great technology that is being launched. Tech suppliers have been busy. Appears that Reggie and I need to connect so I can learn more about the cvent network.

Bala, I am very impressed with your technology and after we have discussed it further, I suspect that your organization has pursued a business model that will be adopted by tradeshow organizers interested in reducing their show marketing costs. Thanks for your time to discuss your solutions.
