The Smell of Cancun – Attending FICP

I returned last week from a speaking engagement for the Financial and Insurance Conference Planners (FICP) 2008 Annual Conference in Cancun, Mexico.  This event was well done and seemed to be a huge hit with all the attendees.  While I have had many opportunities to travel and speak this year, I have turned down a large number with the new baby in the house.  Although my wife decided not to come with me, I flew down to Mexico for a couple of days.

What is it about the smell of ocean, tropical air and sun tan lotion that reduces your pace and puts a smile on your face? The moment I stepped off the plane, I knew I had landed into the land of vacation.  Unfortunately, without my spouse and kids, it is extremely difficult to enjoy the sand and beach without guilt.  48 hours later, I jumped back on the plane and returned to Texas – determined to bring the family back another day.
For anyone thinking about attending this event, I highly recommend it.  I was very impressed by quality of speakers; the networking events and attention spent on event details.
