a2zInc delivers on innovation againDecember 6, 2008 | Link This | Email this | Comments (0) Having reviewed many mobile applications over the last three months, I wondered when a supplier would launch a solution that could harness social media. Last week, I found that tool. a2zInc has launched a new solution called ChirpE. This tool delivers a floor map and other relevant event information. One exciting feature includes the ability to connect with peers and exhibitors utilizing a cellular platform. Capturing the 'buzz' on the floor, ChirpE becomes a social networking tool by connecting attendees and enabling direct communications on the show floor. The dialogues can also be channeled into Lin...Read More Industries: Associations, AV & Technology, Conferences, CVBs & Venues, Events, Exhibiting, Management Update, Meetings, People, People, People, People, Production Technology, Show Management, Speakers, Speakers & Entertainment, Technology, Tradeshows, Tradeshows Recent Posts
eMERGE track at IAEE Expo ExpoDecember 2, 2008 | Link This | Email this | Comments (0) If you are attending IAEE Expo Expo in Miami on December 9-11, take a moment to look at this year's eMerge tech education sessions. Dave Lutz and eMerge committee (on which I had the honor of serving) has done a great job of selecting engaging speakers who offer some compelling topics. The response was so fantastic that when many of these sessions were oversubscribed early, IAEE quickly realized the need to move to larger rooms. It seems that using technology to help drive improved business results was a hu...Read More Industries: Associations, AV & Technology, Conferences, CVBs & Venues, Destinations, Destinations, Events, Exhibiting, Food & Beverage, Management Update, Meetings, People, People, People, People, Show Management, Speakers, Technology, Tradeshows, Tradeshows Recent Posts

In theory, the move towards APEX standards is something that everybody in the industry agrees is good. The need for a set of establsihed guidelines is nothing new in the business wor...Read More Industries: Associations, AV & Technology, Catering, Conferences, CVBs & Venues, Destinations, Destinations, Events, Exhibiting, Food & Beverage, Management Update, Meetings, People, People, People, People, Production Technology, Show Management, Site Selection, Speakers, Speakers & Entertainment, Technology, Tradeshows, Tradeshows Recent Posts
Listen to Customers to Gauge Social Media AdoptionNovember 30, 2008 | Link This | Email this | Comments (0) David Meeram Scott is an advocate of embracing social media and Internet tools to their full extent, bu t in order to do that, according to him, we have to shift what we know about traditional marketing strategies and alter them accordingly to account for the new, unique benefits the Internet offers us. As rebellious as this statement may seem, he's not breaking the rules, he's just using a new media. And he’s on the right track. David stresses how important it is to listen and understand your customers. This approach is not a new idea, but rather the continued use of market research to better understand the marketplace. Ugh – Black Friday ShoppingNovember 29, 2008 | Link This | Email this | Comments (0) Normally I am able to miss out on all the fun of the shopping spree on the day after Thanksgiving. Seems like I always have some other task that prevents me from going – sleeping, watching TV, or eating too much left over turkey. Two nights ago, I learned that I would have the privilege of joining the early morning Black Friday crowds in search of that perfect gift discounted to an unbelievable price. My suggestion that the women folk were more skilled at this endeavor fell on insulted and then deaf ears. General observations and tips from my first (and I hope last) participation in this event includes: • Drink plenty of water • Grab your coffee on the way to the store, you may never know how long before you will exit the next retail store. •  ...Read More
