AV Unions Shut Out Of St. Louis Center
After 16 months of negotiations, the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission has locked out three unions that supply labor for audiovisual services to America's Center – unless they come back as CVC employees.

Mark Yuska, president of the new Arlington, Va.-based Alliance Exposition Services, is offering customers something a general service contractor rarely does: a bill of rights. “I wanted to hit on every area,” Yuska said of the 10 rights.

State Takes $65M From Center's Bed-tax Funds
A recent action by the Washington State Legislature to snag $65 million in bed-tax funds is just the latest fiscal maneuver by lawmakers worried about balancing state budgets. “When they see a big pot of money sitting there, they rub their hands together and get excited,” said John Christison, president and COO of Seattle-based Washington State Convention & Trade Center.

Techtextil Now Annual
Messe Frankfurt USA is doubling the frequency of its biennial Techtextil North America and moving it to Las Vegas in odd-numbered years. This year's Techtextil North America took place April 1-3 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. “A lot of people don't travel the way they used to,” said Show Manager Stephanie Everett.
