Med Shows Survive
Health care shows held their own in 2008, taking into consideration the economic downturn, even if there were no major gains in any particular index, with net square footage up 0.6 percent, number of exhibiting companies down 0.5 percent and attendance up 0.1 percent. However, the industry may not be as resilient as previously thought by some.

Hong Kong Casts Wary Eye on China
Even in a city filled with gleaming skyscrapers, stores of every kind packed with crowds of people buying goods and 15,000 factories nearby churning out even more products, the global economic crisis has begun to make its mark.

Low-flow Time for Bureaus
It doesn't take an advanced degree in mathematics to calculate that, with the downturn in the economy, there's been a decline in heads on beds. That, in turn, has translated to less bed taxes collected by most convention and visitors bureaus. With corporate meeting cancellations and fewer attendees on showfloors, bureaus all over the United States suddenly have had to cope with reductions.

CeBIT Shrinks Its Show by One Day
Deutsche Messe will shorten CeBIT by one day next year. It will be the second consecutive year that the major annual information and communications technology show held in Hannover, Germany, will have shortened the show by one day.
