Hong Kong Shows Lose a Little Luster
Along aisles filled with diamond necklaces, emerald earrings and sapphire pendants from all over the world, there were plenty of people perusing the wares at the Hong Kong-based Hong Kong Intl. Jewellry Show, as well as at Asia’s Fashion Jewellry & Accessories Fair, which featured nonprecious jewelry, but exhibitors said orders were down at both shows.

Las Vegas Doubles Down on Dismal
Last October, when Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman was asked about problems with the city’s economy, he dismissed the suggestion as negativity and said, “Other cities would kill for our numbers.” Four months of recession later, and the numbers don’t look positive for Sin City.

Show Launches in a Tough News Industry
According to several exhibitors and attendees at the inaugural Newspaper Assn. of America mediaXchange, the conference and tradeshow for the advertising, management and infrastructure side of the newspaper industry, the event might have the right intentions, but there’s still room for improvement.

Two Textile Shows to Collocate in L.A.
In mid-2008, two new textile shows announced they will launch this year in Los Angeles, bringing the city's count of shows in that sector to three. Now, organizers of one of the new shows decided it will collocate with LA Intl. Textile Show, which has been at the California Market Center since 1993.
