Licensing Show Has a New Competitor
A tradeshow organizer announced she will launch a New York-based event to replace the Licensing Intl. Expo that Advanstar Communications will move from the Big Apple to Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Advanstar officials have said they plan to stop Linda Cohen of Trade Show Events from calling the new event the New York Licensing Show.

Rival German Bicycle Shows Lock Wheels as Sponsors Choose Sides
Organizers of two German bicycle shows denied they are competing with one another, despite what appears to be intense interest in landing sponsorships from national bicycling organizations. Messe Muenchen recently announced the launch of Bike Expo July 23-26 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre, and Messe Friedrichshafen's well-established Eurobike, a fixture for nearly 20 years, is scheduled Sept. 2-5 at Messe Friedrichshafen.

Action Sports Retailer Shifts Dates
Nielsen Business Media officials said they will move the dates of their semiannual Action Sports Retailer Trade Expo, primarily to accommodate buyers in the specialty sporting goods sector who want to wait later than January to shop for their fall seasons.

Sustainability Envy: Greener Than Green?
The U.S. Green Building Council's LEED certification (for the uninitiated, that means Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the standard for convention centers interested in attracting whatever meetings or shows want to claim they're contributing to economic sustainability.
