Since late last year, two things have had many gun owners concerned: The economy’s swift turn downward has them fearing for their safety, and a new Democratic administration in Washington, D.C., has them worrying that tighter restrictions on firearms may be on the horizon. As a result, gun show managers have said both attendance and sales at their events have skyrocketed.

Fewer Groups Say Aloha to Hawaii
The one-two punch of, first, an economic downturn and, second, the ripple effects from a harsh public backlash against companies planning meetings in places perceived as inappropriate, has landed hard on Hawaii. "So far this year, we've lost 10,000 room nights," said Matt Bailey, managing director of Maui's Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa.

Diversified Heads for Hong Kong
Portland, Maine-based Diversified Business Communications, which already has divisions in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, now has added another location to its international roster. Diversified acquired a majority stake in Asia Business Events, a show management company based in Hong Kong.
